This marvel of modern engineering design & innovation makes this corrugator NC Cutter, and better known as a Chop Knife. One of the most advanced units to come out of Long River’s manufacturing facilities.
The use of German-designed high-tech electronic components. Coupled with high-quality Japanese AC Drives & bearings throughout, makes this unit one of the most reliable Corrugator NC Cutter Knives to be bought anywhere in the World in this price range.
Corrugator NC Cutter Knife
Long River has invested a lot of time and resources into making this unit one of their top quality and high-performing production units available today for the corrugating manufacturing industries worldwide.
This NC Cutter is making large inroads into the solid fibreboard converting industry and has surprised many customers with its speed, accuracy, and clean-cut edge on various laminate product sheets. Many of these laminates are made up of various outer exotic coatings, from aluminium foils, polyesters, silicone, kraft papers and polyethylene better known as PE covered materials.
NC Cutter Knife
This Corrugator NC Cutter, aka Chop Knife, is built by making use of twin helical blades, which are manufactured with high precision and delicately balanced rotating units.
This combination produces a rotary sheet cutting knife that is suitable for the full spectrum of the box-making corrugating board, and many applications for the solid fibreboard converting industries.
As there are many of these NC Cutters now in service, with incredibly satisfied customers producing various board products every day.
Customers are often quite surprised at how little maintenance is required to keep these NC Cutters running in tip-top performance, in comparison to the older cut-off knife units they replaced.
NC Cutter Knife Accuracy
The accurate cut size of sheets on this NC Cutter is less than +/- 1 mm at speeds up to 250 mph. This machine runs silently at its top speed and no vibration is produced at these speeds.
Operators running one of these new units often remark how quiet this machine is when running at top speed, in comparison to the older cutters they were operating before.
With the use of modern Scientific tool steel being used in the blades that are fitted into this generation of NC Cutters. The blades do not need adjusting so often as the old tool steel blades used previously in the older cut-off units.
Where achieving zero “Angel Hairs” on cuts of many of the manufactured solid cardboard laminated products would only be short-lived… in some instances, it was a wishful dream. I have personally seen many so-called experts on cutters arrive on-site at various factories. People that knew everything to be known about these cutters! Only to see them disappear as soon as the cutter started to cut the product, but not clean debris-free cuts as expected.
The intention of management was that they could get a guillotine-type cut, on laminated board products straight from the NC cutter. It would be some years before I achieved that with great success for many different products and companies.
The life of Blades for Corrugator NC Cutters
Knife changes can now be extended to years, which means greater productivity, by being able to run longer orders of high-quality clean-cut edges.
In the first place your NC Cutter must be set up correctly, that is by expert electronic & mechanical engineers accustomed to this type of Knife Unit.
To achieve the following cut numbers, a lot depends on the experience of the people that are appointed to attend to your blade adjustments.
The smooth running of the knife unit is paramount, by having it maintained as specified by the manufacture.
For close blade contact “Clean Cut Edges” you can expect a life between re-grinds of up to 110 million cuts!
Example: Running your corrugator, sheeter, or Laminator at 180 metres per minute in a 24-hour day, for a 5-day week! Average cut length of sheet equals 1.250 metres and say 90% efficiency!
Worked Example: – Speed at 180 mpm, sheet length at 1.250 meters long, equals 144 cuts/minute x 60 = 8,640/hour x 24 = 207,360 a day x 5 = 1,036,800, at 90% efficiency! = 933,120 cuts a week!
When running with one straight edge blade and one serrated edge blade, you can expect up to 160,000,000 or greater number of sheets cut between fitting a new set of blades. Keep in mind the people in charge of the cutting & setting process are paramount in helping to maintain an accurate longevity of the cut edge on your sheet material running through your NC Cutters.
I love modern machinery…
